Extreme conditions are nothing new to North Central Washington state, or to those resilient enough to call this diverse place home.
Whether blistering sun and summer heat, high winds or hail, pounding rain, or deep snow and sliding ice, we continue the quest to design and install systems to protect each unique structure as effectively as possible
There’s plenty of companies around who will be happy to slap up some aluminum seamless gutters for you, bragging about their low price, quick reaponse, and maybe even a warranty. But none of them have been in business a fraction as long as us, and when you have problems with their work (which you most certainly will) they probably won’t answer your calls.
We have learned the hard way, over the years, that there are no short cuts to a quality installation.
We offer steel 26 gauge gutters, and in the right conditions there is virtually no limit to how long we can install in one piece. Steel expands and contracts at a
far lower coefficient than aluminum does, so corner seams are much less likely to leak over the years. With dozens of color choices, we can match or complement almost any paint or finish. Gutters and downspouts dont need to be the same color, if a combination would accent your place better.
Some buildings— such as log, stone, stucco or timber frame— almost demand the extra class that comes with copper gutters and downspouts or rain chains. With brass supports and stainless fasteners, copper is just as strong and durable as steel. Plus the patina that develops gradually adds a timeless look and feel to your “castle”.
With relatively long cold winters, not to mention the fact that most of our precipitation falls in the frozen form, most off our clients benefit greatly from heat cables in their gutters and downspouts. Even if gutters are not needed, many roofs can build up ice dams along eaves or in valleys, causng water damage in walls, attics and ceilings. Many years of removing such hazards has taught us where (if) heat cables are a viable option for all types of applications.
Far too many buildings are designed without regard to the probability of moving snow and ice. Even if the pifch is low or nearly flat, a metal roof will slide, but not until warm temperatures prevail, when the mass is dense and wet. Composition, tile and shake roofs may slide in some situations, especially with steeper slopes.
Both scenarios can be dangerous to people and property. In cases where valleys or opposing slopes prevent snow from sliding, slowly creeping ice may damage metal roof panela.
Many products are available to minimize danger and damage, on almost any type of roof, and we have extensive experience in most of these systems.
Occasionally a client will need some type of filter to keep leaves, needles, cones, seeds, and/ or moss from plugging their gutters. These filters, if installed properly, can prevent birds, wasps or other pests from nesting in the gutter, which could otherwise render the system useless. While this is no “silver bullet” (there is no such thing as a totally maintenanc-free gutter system) it can greatly simplify cleaning and function in many cases.
We have a wealth of knowledge in all things related to gutters and heat cables.
We will be glad to consult or assist you in projects such as:
Heated driveways, walkways, stairs and decks
Underground drainage pipes to divert runoff
Rainwater harvesting for gardening or fire control
